May 20, (THEWILL) — Nigerian Afro-house singer, Niniola Apata, has announced the death of her husband, Michael Ndika.
The Grammy-nominated artiste shared the heartbreaking news through a series of emotional posts on her Instagram story early Wednesday, revealing that they had been together for 13 years.
In one post, Niniola wrote, “God took him.”
In another, she added, “My husband died.”
She also shared a more personal message: “God took him. 13 years. 13 f***ing years”, alongside photos of the couple.
Ndika was a respected figure behind the scenes in the entertainment industry, serving as the Chief Executive Officer of NaijaReview, a digital multimedia platform focused on promoting Afro-house and contemporary African music.
The news has shocked fans and the Nigerian entertainment community, with many sharing condolences and messages of support.
Niniola has always been protective of her private life and has not revealed further details about her husband’s passing.
She rose to prominence as a runner-up on Project Fame West Africa in 2013 and has since built a distinctive career in Nigerian music. She is also the older sister of singer Teni.
