February 23, (THEWILL) — Nigerian music star Asake has become the most-streamed artist on Spotify in Nigeria. The streaming platform shared the figures as it marked five years of operations in Nigeria, Kenya, and Ghana.

Since launching in Nigeria in February 2021, Spotify says music streaming in the country has grown at an average rate of 163.5 per cent.

The company credits the growth to a young, digitally engaged audience and the steady rise of Afrobeats.

Asake tops Spotify’s all-time ranking in Nigeria. He leads ahead of Wizkid, Seyi Vibez, Burna Boy, and Davido.

The ranking reflects how strongly Nigerian listeners have supported local stars over the past five years.

He also dominates the list of most-streamed songs. His hit “Remember” is the most-streamed track in Nigeria since Spotify launched, while “Lonely At The Top” ranks among the platform’s biggest songs in the country.

Other popular tracks include “Kese (Dance)” by Wizkid, “Doha” by Seyi Vibez, and “With You” by Davido featuring Omah Lay.

Spotify also revealed that Nigerian users have created more than 25 million playlists in five years, showing strong engagement.

The average listener in Nigeria is 26 years old, which highlights the role of young people in driving streaming growth.

The figures confirm Nigeria’s rising influence in global music, with artists like Asake leading the country’s streaming success story.
