March 27, (THEWILL) — Wizkid has extended his global success after winning Best African Music Act at the MOBO (Music of Black Origin) Awards 2026.
The ceremony, held in Manchester on Thursday, celebrated Black music and culture, with Nigerian stars taking top honours.
Wizkid beat fellow Nigerians, including Davido, Rema, Tiwa Savage, Ayra Starr and Adekunle Gold to win the award.
The win marks his seventh MOBO Award, making him the most awarded African artiste in the ceremony’s history. He first made history in 2011 as the first African artist to win.
Ayra Starr also had a strong night, winning Best International Act for the second consecutive year. She beat stars like Tyla, Cardi B, Gunna and Kehlani.
British-Nigerian media personality, Niko Omilana, won Best Media Personality.
The 2026 edition was the first time the MOBO Awards were held in Manchester, highlighting the growing global influence of African and Black music.
