Onos Brisibi

March 27, (THEWILL) — Onos Brisibi, a Nollywood soundtrack artiste and gospel singer, has died at the age of 55 after a prolonged illness.

She passed away on March 23, 2026, her family confirmed in a statement released on Thursday.

Her death was also announced by her cousin and actor, Richard Mofe-Damijo, who paid tribute to her on Instagram. He described Brisibi as a “devoted Christian and gifted songstress whose music touched countless lives.”

RMD recalled her personality and commitment to ministry, saying her voice “didn’t just sing; it ministered, lifting hearts and drawing people closer to God.”

He added, “The tears are many, but the memories are even more. We are comforted that she is finally resting with the Lord. Rest in perfect peace, Onos. You were truly loved.”

In a family statement, the late singer was described as “a devoted Christian, a gifted songstress, and a passionate praise and worship leader whose angelic voice touched many lives as she spread the gospel through music.”

The family added that she would be remembered as “a beautiful, fun-loving woman with a heart of gold, whose faith, warmth, and kindness left lasting impressions on all who knew her.” Funeral arrangements will be announced later.

News of her death has prompted an outpouring of condolences from the Nigerian entertainment community.

Born in November 1970 in Aladja, Brisibi began her music career at the age of nine. She became one of Nollywood’s most sought-after soundtrack voices, featured in films such as “Domitilla”, “Mortal Inheritance”, “Blood Money”, and “Shame”.

She also worked with notable Nigerian artists, including Daniel Wilson and Sammie Okposo, and contributed vocals to “Gra Gra” by Lagbaja.

Brisibi is survived by her daughter, Sarah, her mother, siblings, and extended family.
