August 04, (THEWILL) — American actress Loni Anderson, renowned for her role as Jennifer Marlowe in the hit television sitcom WKRP in Cincinnati, has died following a prolonged illness. She passed away on Sunday in a Los Angeles hospital, just days shy of her 80th birthday.
Her longtime publicist, Cheryl J. Kagan, confirmed her passing. In a statement issued by the family, they described her death as a heartbreaking loss, referring to her as a “dear wife, mother and grandmother.”
Anderson became a household name through her portrayal of the glamorous and intelligent receptionist at the fictional WKRP radio station in the CBS sitcom that aired from 1978 to 1982.
Her performance earned her three Golden Globe nominations and two Emmy nominations, cementing her as a defining figure of late-70s and early-80s television comedy.
Outside of WKRP, Anderson appeared in a range of television series, including Nurses, Evening Shade, and several made-for-TV films such as A Letter to Three Wives and White Hot: The Mysterious Murder of Thelma Todd.
