March 17, (THEWILL) — A Lagos-based woman, Osarobo Osarenoma Odigie, has filed a lawsuit against TikTok streamer Habeeb Hamzat popularly known as Peller, seeking N395 million in damages over alleged defamation, cyber harassment and invasion of privacy.
In a pre-action letter dated March 10, 2026, her lawyers accused the influencer of making defamatory remarks and recording her without consent.
The case stems from an incident on January 6, 2026, at Folixxx Lounge.
According to her lawyers, Odigie was startled by Peller’s “loud outburst” while she was buying food.
They alleged that Peller recorded the confrontation without her consent and shared the video across multiple platforms, where he described her as a “hater.”
According to her legal team, the video quickly spread online due to Peller’s large following, attracting widespread reactions and alleged harassment.
She said the incident caused emotional distress and raised concerns about her safety.
“Our client has suffered significant emotional distress and has developed genuine fears for her safety,” the lawyers wrote.
She is seeking N200 million for defamation, N100 million for emotional distress, N75 million for cyberbullying, and N20 million for legal fees.
In addition to the monetary demand, her lawyers asked Peller to remove the video from all platforms and issue a public apology.
“You are required to issue a clear, unequivocal, and public apology to our client across all platforms where the defamatory content was published,” the letter said.
They also demanded that he notify third-party platforms to take down the video within seven days, warning that failure to comply would lead to legal action.
“Should you fail, refuse, or neglect to comply… our client shall, without further recourse to you, institute appropriate legal proceedings against you,” the letter stated.
The lawsuit follows a widely circulated confrontation between Peller and the woman at a Lagos lounge on January 6.
Peller had earlier issued a public apology on January 9 after the video drew criticism online, admitting his reaction was out of character and expressing regret over the incident.
