June 10 (THEWILL) — Hollywood actor and former professional wrestler Tyler Mane has revealed that he has been diagnosed with breast cancer and has begun chemotherapy.

The 59-year-old, known for playing Sabretooth in “X-Men” and “Deadpool & Wolverine,” shared the news in a video posted on social media on Monday, June 8.

“I have some bad news. I start chemo today,” he said. “One in 750 men will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime. And I’m one of them.”

Mane said the disease is rarely discussed in men, which can lead to late detection. He also admitted that he initially wanted to keep his diagnosis private.

“I’ll be honest, my first reaction was to keep it secret. I mean it’s kind of embarrassing,” he said.

He added that his doctors initially dismissed his symptoms and credited his wife, Renae Geerlings, with encouraging him to get the lump checked and removed early.

Mane said he now plans to share his treatment journey publicly to raise awareness and encourage early detection among men.

According to health experts, male breast cancer is rare, making up less than 1% of all breast cancer cases, but the risk increases with age.
