April 23, (THEWILL) — Nigerian rapper Zlatan Ibile has voiced concerns about the growing influence of social media on the music industry.

In a recent appearance on the Afrobeats Podcast hosted by Shopsydoo on April 23, 2026, Zlatan said music is no longer limited to professional artists.

“It used to be that artists were the celebrities, but now TikTokers, influencers, and content creators are celebrities. That is why you can see an influencer or skit maker drop a song and it blows up,” he said.

He noted that the rise of influencers releasing music has changed the industry and affected the overall quality of songs.

Zlatan added that the line between musicians and content creators is becoming blurred, as many influencers already have large audiences that help their songs gain attention quickly.

Fellow singer Kcee has also raised similar concerns, saying influencer culture is affecting the natural growth of music, streams, and charts.

He added that while it has some benefits, the disadvantages outweigh them.
