May 25 (THEWILL) — Alexx Ekubo’s family has announced plans for the late actor’s burial, with funeral rites set to end on June 18, 2026.
The Nollywood actor died on May 11 after battling advanced metastatic kidney cancer.
In an obituary statement shared on his Instagram page on Monday, the family described Ekubo as a man whose life was marked by love, generosity and faith.
“With profound sorrow, yet gratitude to God for a life so beautifully lived and deeply impactful, we officially announce the funeral arrangements of our beloved husband, son, brother, friend, and colleague, Alexx Ekubo-Okwaraeke.”
The family added, “Though his passing came far too soon, Alexx lived a life marked by love, warmth, generosity, laughter, and an unwavering devotion to God and the people he cherished. His presence filled rooms, lifted hearts, and created memories that will remain with us forever.”
The family also thanked fans, friends and colleagues for their support since the actor’s death.
According to the funeral arrangements, a service of songs will be held on Wednesday, June 10, at The Monarch Event Centre in Lekki, Lagos, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Guests are expected to wear white.
The wake keep is scheduled for Wednesday, June 17, at 7 Ekubo-Okwaraeke Avenue, Aziukwukwa, Ujari Village, Arochukwu, Abia State.
The funeral service and interment will take place on Thursday, June 18.
The service will be held at Mary Slessor School in Arochukwu, while the interment will follow at the family residence located at 7 Ekubo-Okwaraeke Avenue, Aziukwukwa, Ujari Village, Arochukwu, Abia State.
Alexx Ekubo was widely known for his roles in several Nollywood films and television productions.
