July 05, (THEWILL) – David Adeleke, also known as Davido, has stated that the beat of his hit song, Dami Duro, was initially for another artiste.
The music act was speaking about his 2011 hit songs during an espisode of Afro beat: the Backstory Documentary.
The documentary, which centres on the rise of the Afrobeat genre, premiered on Netflix on Thursday. It was produced by Ayo Shoniya.
The singer revealed that he had no intention of releasing a song with such beat, as it was originally for Sexy Steel, another music act.
“People that were in the studio when I was recording that song included Wande, Bigiano, Shank and Shizzi. I started the beat to Dami Duro and then was making the beat for Sexy Steel.
“This is fact because I have a studio, I have like the best studio at that time. So, I was making it for Sexy Steel at that time. I met Shizzi in Wande’s house when he was working on Wizkid’s album”, he concluded.
