SAN FRANCISCO, November 25, (THEWILL) – Controversial female rapper, Nicki Minaj has berated the organisers of the Grammy Awards for denying her the award for ‘Best new artist’ in 2012.

THEWILL recalls that popular American indie folk band, Bon Iver, won the Best New Artist award in the 2012 Grammys while Nicki lost all four 2012 categories she was nominated in.

However, Nicki made history when she became the first solo female rapper to perform at the award ceremony.

Nicki tweeted on Tuesday night about being ignored for that award.

She wrote: “Never forget the Grammys did not give me my best new artist award when I had seven songs simultaneously charting on billboard and bigger first week than any female rapper in the last decade and went on to inspire a generation. They gave it to the white man Bon Iver.”

Nicki stated this after the organisers released the nominations for the 63rd Grammys, which had Beyoncé topping the list with nine nominations, while artists like the Weeknd and Lil Baby were ignored.
