March 16, (THEWILL) — Renowned veteran gospel singer, Deborah Fasoyin, widely known for her popular Yoruba gospel song “Odun n Lo Sopin”, has dismissed viral reports claiming that she is dead.
Fasoyin, who celebrated her 86th birthday on March 1, 2026, described the claims circulating on social media as false and expressed gratitude for her continued good health.
In a video statement, the 86-year-old singer clarified that she is alive and well, attributing the rumour to misinformation shared online.
“I am happy to tell you that I’m hale and hearty and what you’ve seen on Facebook is fake. I will finish strong and healthy with supernatural sound health and I will go to my Father in peace, not in sickness, pain and I will die at a good old age just like my father Abraham”, she said.
Her son, Korede Fasoyin, also dismissed the rumour while responding to enquiries from concerned friends and family.
“My mother is alive. The news of her death is fake. I don’t know the mischievous person who posted that without verifying”, he said.
The false report had earlier circulated widely online, with several posts sharing her photograph alongside “RIP” messages and condolence tributes.
Deborah Fasoyin is a respected gospel singer within the Christ Apostolic Church and across Nigeria. Her music, particularly “Odun n Lo Sopin”, remains influential among generations of gospel music listeners.
