April 18, (THEWILL) — A planned concert by Kanye West in Poland was cancelled on 17 April 2026, following government pressure and public backlash over his past antisemitic remarks.
The show, scheduled for 19 June at Silesian Stadium in Chorzów, was called off by the venue, which cited “formal and legal reasons” in a statement.
Poland’s culture minister, Marta Cienkowska, criticized the booking as “unacceptable.”
She said that in a country affected by the Holocaust, the concert could not be treated as “just entertainment.”
The cancellation follows a series of disruptions to West’s European plans.
A concert in Marseille, France, was postponed amid similar criticism, while the United Kingdom government recently barred him from entering the country, leading to the cancellation of Wireless Festival.
West has faced criticism in recent years over antisemitic comments and the use of Nazi-related imagery, including backlash for selling swastika-themed merchandise and releasing controversial material referencing Nazism.
In January, the rapper issued a public apology, denying he is antisemitic and attributing his past behaviour to bipolar disorder, while stating he wanted to make amends.
Despite the ongoing controversy, West has continued to perform in some markets and still has shows planned across Europe and Asia later this year.
