July 12, (THEWILL) – Singer cum TV presenter, Osayamwen Nosa Donald, aka Djinee, has stated that money cannot increase the quality of life one has in Nigeria.
The singer made this known because of the experience he had while stuck in traffic for hours.
According to him, he spent 9 hours in traffic out of the 19 hours he spent away from work.
He added that it takes a higher level of reasoning to know that money is not everything. A lot of people spend productive time in traffic, which eventually affects people’s health.
Stating further, he said that Lagos and Nigeria are both not working, and it is the victims of both places that can better tell their bitter stories.
“I can finally tweet this. Fri/Sat, I was out for 16hrs. 9 out of those were spent in traffic. 4hrs to the location and 5hrs back. Back wasn’t home cos I had to find shelter @a friend’s. Couldn’t drive anymore. And some people experience this everyday. This is not life.
“You have to possess a higher level of reasoning to know that money doesn’t increase the quality of your life in Naija.
“In that traffic, there were Benzes & Ranges, all as frustrated as everyone else in traffic.
“All of us are losing productive time. Our health collectively taking the hurt.
“I asked myself, how long can I take this? The first night I was still in traffic till midnight. Finally out of it, driving in pitch dark blackness still on a terrible road in the rain, fearing for safety because this is Naija, this is Lagos.
“This is no political tweet. Lagos is not working. Nigeria is not working. Ask those that have to scoop rain water from their houses.
“Ask families in Owo, Borno, Adamawa, Kaduna, who like their counterparts in the east have lost thousands to terrorism.
“Lagos has become so capitalist that there has been no thought given to proper urban planning.
“Just keep selling! Fuel station jostling for space with residential houses on tiny roads.
“Dangote refinery was built and half of the road leading to it is a mess. Agbero is normal. A mega city.
“Our bar of success has been set so low. That’s why we’ll see this and more & applaud.
“Either that or we’re plain stupid. Or worse still, our hunger has left our brains comatose, so we prefer the crumbs they (politicians) pacify us with than seek a total change.
“In the land of the blind, the one eyed man is king. You have to legally travel out to see what it means to have a quality life for less.
“If you’re well travelled & you see the mess here is normal and support the administrator of this anomaly, then you are the biggest PHOOL”, he tweeted.
