October 21, (THEWILL) — Nollywood actor Shawn Faqua and his bride, Sharon Ifunanya Maduekwe, have made history by holding Nigeria’s first-ever wedding aboard a moving train.
The one-of-a-kind ceremony took place on Sunday along the Lagos–Ibadan Standard Gauge Railway and was attended by close family and friends.
The celebration began as the train departed from the Alagomeji-Yaba Station in Lagos, with guests treated to a picturesque journey filled with music, laughter, and heartfelt moments.
According to reports, the concept for the wedding came from the bride, Sharon, an event planner whose creativity transformed a regular train ride into an unforgettable celebration of love.
Viral videos from the ceremony captured the couple exchanging vows as guests cheered and recorded the remarkable moment.
The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) also joined in the celebration, praising the couple’s ingenuity.
“From lovebirds to locomotives, we’re keeping things on track. History made — the first-ever wedding on a moving train in Nigeria. Proof that the journey can be just as beautiful as the destination,” the NRC posted on social media.
Beyond the romance, the Faquas’ wedding has sparked conversations online for its creativity and modern flair, with many hailing it as a refreshing blend of love, innovation, and national pride.
The event marks a new chapter in how Nigerian couples are redefining traditional weddings with bold and imaginative ideas.
