February 16, (THEWILL) — Nollywood Actor, Timini Egbuson’s new film, ‘Love and New Notes’, has smashed box office records, earning about ₦106 million in its opening weekend, making it the highest-grossing Nollywood film of 2026.
The movie, directed by Kayode Kasum, premiered on February 13 and set multiple milestones, including the biggest opening weekend of the year, the highest single-day gross for a 2026 release, and the top film of the weekend.
FilmOne, the movie’s distributor, thanked audiences, saying, “Thank you, everyone, for the Love you showed the New Notes and us. Love and New Notes opens with ₦106m, breaking multiple records in just one weekend.

Egbuson also expressed his gratitude, saying, “All the glory must be to the lord. Woke up to the best news. This is me saying a big thank you to everyone who has contributed to the success of this film. We go harder. Please tell somebody to tell somebody love and new notes season.”
Set in 1984 Nigeria during the currency change, ‘Love and New Notes’ is a romantic drama that explores love, ambition, and personal choices. It stars Timini Egbuson, Odunlade Adekola, Sophie Alakija, Eniola Badmus, and Toluwani George.
With this strong opening, the film reinforces Egbuson’s status as one of Nollywood’s leading actors.
