BEVERLY HILLS, October 07, (THEWILL) – American singer and songwriter, Johnny Nash, who is popular for his song ‘I Can See Clearly Now’, has died at the age of 80.
The death of the singer was announced by his son who disclosed that the late singer died from natural causes in his home at Houston on Tuesday.
Nash started as a pop musician in the 1950’s and in the 1960’s the late singer formed a partnership with Danny Sims.
Nash and Danny Sims established JAD Records and while staying in Jamaica, they both signed Bob Marley and other members of the group, ‘The Wailers’.
His 1972 hit single, ‘I Can See Clearly Now’, bagged a gold disc by the RIAA in November that same year and sold over one million copies.
The late singer also had another hit in the UK in 1975 with ‘Tears on My Pillow’.
Nash was also an actor and producer. He featured in ‘Take a Giant Step’ (1959), ‘Key Witness’ (1960) and ‘Love Is Not a Game’ (1971).
