July 25, (THEWILL) – American rapper, Calvin Cordozar Broadus Jr, aka Snoop Dogg, will be among the torchbearers carrying the Olympic flame in the final stretch before the opening ceremony of the Paris Games on Friday.
The Paris 2024 Olympics will be held in France. The official opening ceremony is set for July 26, while the event will run till August 11.
The 52-year-old took to his Instagram page to confirm his selection as a torch bearer.
The US pop culture icon will carry the Olympic flame through the suburb of Saint-Denis, north of Paris, which is home to the Stade de France Olympic Stadium and the Olympic Village.
Dogg will be working with NBCUniversal to cover the Olympics. He will provide regular reports and his unique take on what’s happening in Paris.
Speaking on his selection as a correspondent, Snoop described the Olympics as a celebration of skill, dedication, and the pursuit of greatness.
“We are going to have some amazing competitions and, of course, I will be bringing that Snoop style to the mix. It is going to be the most epic Olympics ever, so stay tuned,” he said.
