June 26, (THEWILL) – Fashion designer Yomi Makun, also known as Yomi Casual, has been called out by some aggrieved customers who bought cars from Fred Ahuwa, a close friend of Yomi.
Fred owns Pal Autos, a company selling both new and used cars. Yomi is being accused of conniving with him to allegedly dupe his clients of their hard earned money.
THEWILL gathered that Fred had formed the habit of receiving money from the customers without giving them the vehicles they paid for. The customers claimed that Yomi introduced Fred to them as a trusted car dealer to thm and they decided to patronise him based on his recommendation.
One of the affected parties, Gbenga Onileowo alleged that he paid N31 million to the auto dealer to supply an automobile but Fred collected the money which was paid in batches without sending the car. Gbenga said he personally contacted Makun because of the large sum of money involved and Yomi gave him the go ahead only for the car dealer to fail to supply his choice car since the transaction was made in the year 2020.
Sandra Okonkwo, another client who had a failed deal with Fred, allegedly paid over N3 million, based on Yomi’s recommendation in 2020, but didn’t get a car in return. When he was contacted, Fred promised to make a refund, but he is yet to do so. While reacting to his inability to provide cars paid for, he made a video on Instagram where he apologized to all the troubled parties and promised to work out modalities of re-payment or getting their desired automobile across to them.
Fred admitted that he received a huge amount of money from a lot of people and blamed a business deal gone sour, as well as fraudsters, for his woes. He exonerated Yomi from his predicament and apologised to him for being at the centre of the controversy. He told the aggrieved customers that the designer has no hand in the situation as he was just acting based on their friendship and the good business deal between them.
Fred pleaded for more time to resolve all the issues and promised to get across to all aggrieved parties individually.
