February 24, (THEWILL) — Nigerian actor and content creator, Bamidele Tope Saint, popularly known as Okemesi, is currently in a coma following complications from medication he received at a hospital, colleagues have confirmed.

Fellow actor, Jeff Owolewa, also known as Tony Montana, shared the update in an Instagram post on Monday.

The development comes just two days after Okemesi moved into a new apartment provided by well-wishers, following a recent appeal for financial support after he fell ill and became homeless.

According to Jeff, Okemesi was hospitalised again after experiencing side effects from drugs prescribed during his earlier treatment. Attempts to admit him to several hospitals were unsuccessful due to a lack of bed space, forcing his team to return him to the private hospital that initially treated and discharged him last week.

In his post, Jeff said, “Guys, Okemesi has been hospitalised again. He was sleeping all through Saturday and Sunday without having much appetite for food due to complications from the drugs that were given to him from the hospital when he was discharged last week.

“I rushed to his house very early on Monday to take him to the hospital. He was rejected in different hospitals, including a government hospital in Igodo, where the doctor refused to attend to him, saying there was no bed space. I have to take him back to the first private hospital that started his treatment. So they admitted him and stabilised him.

“His breathing is improving. So, he has been in a coma since Monday morning. They have placed him on oxygen. We’re all praying that he gets back on track.”

Jeff also urged Nigerians to keep Okemesi in their prayers and appealed for continued financial support to assist with his treatment.
