Afegbai, who played Idia in To Kill a Monkey, directed by Kemi Adetiba, said her performance speaks for itself.

She added,

“The truth is clear: nobody trended like IDIA from TKAM last year. Her acting was 100%. You guys can eat your award.”

The actress said the strong reaction to her character shows the impact of her work, noting that many viewers connected with the role.

To Kill a Monkey earned eight nominations at this year’s AMVCA. Her co-star, Bimbo Akintola, received a nomination for Best Lead Actress.

The 12th AMVCA ceremony is scheduled for May 9, 2026.
